This newsletter is a little out of cadence, but it’s scary season and I wanted to give you a heads up about a couple of Halloween-themed projects from this month. If you’d like to make a cup of tea, put some Monster Mash on the radio, and read something that will give you the shivers… well, here you go. :p
Wake Up, Precious Starlight
I’m thrilled to have a short story in the excellent Wrong Publishing Halloween anthology. This collection was edited by Lex Briscuso and has the title You Took the Wrong Turn. It features fabulous illustrations, and both nonfiction and fiction, all involving moments where wanderers took a wrong turn and wound up somewhere they didn’t intend.
My story draws from one of my favorite weird ballets, Giselle, and explores what could have been going on in the minds of those murderous wilis.
Early, too early, in the morning
I also recently published a story on Medium about a Halloween-themed misadventure on the subway. I was fortunate enough to take a trip to New York City recently and it gave me all kinds of strange ideas. The algorithm at Medium can be fickle and this story hasn’t gotten many views, but I’m still proud of it.
(If you’re not a Medium subscriber, never fear, the link below is ungated.)
Thanks for reading/subscribing and I hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with sneering pumpkins, dancing ghouls, and unholy amounts of candy.
